About Martha Howe - Author

Martha’s published writing began when the conductor of the Param Vir operas they were rehearsing in 1999 in Vienna requested that she write the program notes. Then from July 2002 to December 2005, while living in Vienna, she wrote monthly essays for Women In Motion, a publication in upstate New York.

A singer is an interpreter of words, finding each character in the symbols, undercurrents and hidden motivations layered in the text, harmonies and vocal line. So when she decided to get her Master of Arts it seemed a logical progression to study Literature which she did from 2006 to 2008 with the British Open University, beginning the course work while in Vienna and writing her thesis, “Taslima Nasrin and Monica Ali, Women in Conflict: Victims and Heroes” during her first year back in San Diego.

In 2010, she began writing for The Voice Foundation’s newsletter “The Voice” and has started on several ongoing writing projects.
